The overall mission of MrHwrites is to help students with their writing, whether that means building confidence, organizing thoughts, or fine-tuning sentences.  In terms of general academic writing, I can offer help in all aspects of the writing process.   As with the college essay, the type of help can be tailored to your needs.  

Hourly

This is the a la carte option for help with school writing projects.  Working on an hourly basis, I can help students with the following:

• Idea generation
• Providing feedback on early drafts
• Proofreading final drafts

The rate is $150 per hour, and I would let you know up front how much to expect in terms of billable time.  Example:  a brainstorming meeting might take 1-2 hours, while providing feedback on a draft might take less than an hour.   My specialty here would be essays written for English classes, but I would be happy to read academic essays written for other disciplines (social studies, science) for grammar and usage.  

Full Package

For students who want help all the way through a class, September to June, this would be the best option.  The full academic package includes:

• 3 meetings
• Unlimited written feedback on any essay or short answer written during a school year.  Share it with me and I will read it and provide feedback in a timely fashion.

Note from experience:  In order to improve your writing, you have to be willing to work ahead and get feedback.  Whether you are working with your teacher or an outside tutor, you have to work out in front of deadlines to maximize your improvement.
